SUMMARY:Lunch N Learn - April 25\, 2017
DESCRIPTION:Lunch N Learn\n\nPresenter: Barbara Burke\, Career Expedition Coaching\n\nTopic: Career Mobility in 2017 Are you ready? \nDESCRIPTION The description succinctly sets out the problem the talk addresses\, and what attendees will learn\n\n\n\nThe American worker is more open to new job opportunities than ever before. Lack of engagement in their current job is many times the catalyst to seeking a new opportunity. 50.7% of employees were "not engaged" in their jobs and 16.7% were "actively disengaged" according to a 2016 Gallup Survey. Explaining what this reality means for the 2017 job seeker where there is stiff competition in the job market\, we will walk through how these job seekers need to be armed with a modern and proactive approach to job seeking and share examples that illustrate how to get a better ROI on their job search.\n\n\n\nABSTRACT The abstract provides additional concrete details on what will be covered\n\n\n\nJob searching in 2017 involves more than applying for jobs online and hoping to be noticed. A strategic approach broken down into smart and tactical actions can mean the difference between a successful job search strategy and a frustrating and soul-sucking failed attempt. We'll delve into some best practices I've implemented successfully with job seekers solving their real-world problems like how to build a strong and compelling value proposition through their resume\, cover letter and their personal online branding\, and how to master the crucial and essential skills of research\, networking\, interviewing\, follow-up and negotiation skills. With greater clarity and confidence\, job seekers can take meaningful action to obtain a fulfilling career opportunity that fully utilizes their strengths and interests.\n\n\n\nThe presentation will include:\n\n\n	I'm unhappy in my job. Now what?\n	State of my current job and the biggest challenge/drawback\n	Values/Interests/Strengths Inventory promotes self-discovery Dig deep!\n	Restructuring a resume containing a "laundry list" of duties and turning into an impactful accomplishment-laden marketing piece\n	Job Search 2.0 Take back control! No more sending resumes into the "black hole" of online job sites\n	Research | Networking | Interview Preparation\n\n \n\nThanks to our event sponsors\n\nMeyer Capital Management\, LLC\n\nPNC Bank\n\nLaRosa's Family Pizzeria
