The Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce works with Anderson Township Government to create and execute plans for economic development in the area. Keeping in mind the goal of sustained growth and continued improvement, Anderson Township is one of the most vibrant communities in Cincinnati.
Over the last several decades, Anderson Township has been one of Ohio’s largest and most progressive townships. Although larger than many cities, the township must operate within the restricted role and power state legislation affords townships. Township trustees work to provide the best services for the community, while recognizing certain limitations related to funding resources and regulatory abilities.
A vision for Anderson’s long term future has been carefully documented in The Anderson Plan, a comprehensive look toward a 20- year horizon by a diverse group of residents and business representatives. This vision also was validated by several planning groups and adopted by the Board of Township Trustees.
Comprised of objectives for transportation, economic development, Beechmont Avenue, land use, services and quality of life elements, The Anderson Plan spells out community visions and provides ideas to meet the community’s long term goals and objectives.
Two components of the Anderson Plan that have come to fruition over the past few years are the development of the "Entertainment District" along the Ohio River and the "Downtown Anderson" between Five Mile Rd and Asbury Rd on Beechmont Ave.
The addition of Belterra Park and Grove Park Grille on Kellogg Ave have added a year round entertainment component in the area. The current development of the Anderson Towne Center and Kroger have all but secured that area as the unofficial downtown of Anderson. The addition of a movie theater, upscale luxory apartments, Kroger expansion and a multitude of new businesses will make the Anderson Towne Center a very popular destination.
Last, but not least the $70 million expansion and renovation of Mercy Health - Anderson Hospital will add 60 private patient rooms as well as expanding and renovating the intensive-care unit and the obstetrics and Family Birthing Center. This will only add to the excellence that has already landed the hospital in the top 100 hospitals in the nation a total of 10 times.
