A half mile area of Beechmont, along which significant redevelopment is underway and will continue over the coming year, may look a little different than the style of development traditionally found on Beechmont Avenue, if Anderson Township’s plans come to fruition.
Anderson Township’s Economic Development Committee and township administrators are updating the Beechmont Vision Plan for the area between Asbury Road and Forest Road. The proposal includes walkable areas, outdoor dining, and an emphasis of more of a neighborhood feel to the upcoming development. Changes are also being contemplated to the roadway width in this area, to better accommodate pedestrians and streetscape improvements such as lighting and street furniture.
The draft update to the Beechmont Vision Plan will be presented at a public meeting set for 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26 at Anderson Center, 7850 Five Mile Road. Attendees can offer suggestions for the future of this portion of Beechmont Avenue.
