Project 5000

We hear teens say " there is nothing in the pantry to eat," but what if there was really nothing at all. That is the reality for a growing number of Ohio families. Anderson Hills United Methodist Church has made it their mission for the past 31 years to help families in need through Project 5000. Now through Palm Sunday, AHUMC is planning to fill 1200 boxes with food for area pantries. Each box of food feeds a family of four for 2 days. Those who attend Anderson Hills take boxes and a food shopping list to fill the boxes. The food will be delivered to InterParish Ministry, SEM, YMCA Batavia, Mercy Clermont Outreach, McCauley Health Center and Vinton County Care Outreach. AHUMC also partners with Kroger at Anderson Towne Center. This month, Kroger employees donated their time to fill 700 boxes that customers can buy for about $25 each. The food is then delivered to AHUMC and onto the pantries. Senior Pastor Mark Rowland says this year AHUMC is focused on being "The Church on the Move" and doing even more in the community.
