In 2012, Anderson Township and the Hamilton County Engineers Office made application, and were awarded, $1.4 million in grant funding for improvements to Salem Road between Sutton Road and Beechmont Avenue. Over the last year, plans for this project have been prepared, which entail roadway resurfacing, repair to curbs and sidewalks, new sidewalk construction in selected areas between Sutton and Beacon roads, traffic signal upgrades, crosswalk enhancements, and a new striping pattern.
Bids are currently being accepted for the project and construction is planned to occur between April and July of this year. In an effort to continue to keep abutting property owners, businesses, and motorists aware of the forthcoming changes, an open house to review and discuss the plans will be held on Tuesday, February 12, 2013, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Anderson Center, 7850 Five Mile Road. Plans depicting the future striping for travel and turning lanes, as well as modified on street parking areas, which have been developed in accordance with engineering standards for Intersection Sight Distance, turn lane capacity, and crash history, will be available for review. Representatives from the Hamilton County Engineers Office (as Salem is a county-maintained roadway) will be present at the open house, along with Township staff.
