Welcome to Next Step Collaborative!
My name is Emily Rawers. I’m an educational consultant and owner of Next Step! The title “educational consultant” is a fancy way of saying I help students and their families/supporters through the college admissions process… with all the things: the college search, the application (yes, even the essays!), and financial aid & scholarships. I worked as a director of recruitment and admissions at University of Cincinnati for just over 11 years within the highly competitive fields of engineering and medicine. I’m also a licensed independent social worker which shapes how I approach my work…with empathy, honesty, and a focus on the whole student. High schoolers are some of my favorite people, and I believe everyone deserves someone they can trust throughout this process. I’m a member of 2 professional organizations which set the standards for ethical practice: Independent Educational Consultants Association & National Association for College Admission Counseling.

The amount of information out there across the internet, social media, friends and family, schools, and the list goes on, is overwhelming to say the least. It’s my job to sort through all of it to come up with the best information and effective processes for students and families.
